Mingoville man faces numerous charges in weapons incident

Additional details have been released about a police encounter with a man who was reported shooting outside a Walker Township home Saturday.

When state police at Rockview arrived at the residence on Zellers Lane, they met Anthony J. Bruno, 28, of Mingoville, in the yard.

Bruno was not happy to see them and immediately became combative using profanity, questioning why police were at the home, police said.

They were more concerned with the location of the gun. Initially, police said, Bruno told them it was in his bedroom, but that story would change.

After a pat-down was initiated, Bruno lifted his shirt up, reaching for the firearm, which police could see tucked into the back of his pants.

A trooper knocked the firearm out of Bruno’s hands, and it fell to the ground.

Bruno then became more combative saying “he wished he would have killed them,” police said.

Police attempted to handcuff Bruno, who continued to be violent, banging his head against the police cruiser window after being placed into the back seat.

Once Bruno was transported to the Rockview barracks, he again told troopers that he should have shot them and himself, in the head, police said.

Bruno was arraigned Saturday by District Judge Allen Sinclair. He was unable to post bail, which was set at $25,000.

Bruno is facing numerous charges, including three misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest and seven counts of disorderly conduct and one count of public drunkenness.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 2.
