State College man sentenced on drug charges
A State College man found guilty of possessing marijuana, cocaine and Ecstasy was in court for sentencing Tuesday.
Wesley Tse waived his right to a jury trial in December and was subsequently found guilty on all charges. Those charges included three counts of possession with intent to deliver or manufacture a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription and one count of possessing drug paraphernalia.
Tse was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Jonathan D. Grine to serve a minimum of 11 1/2 to 23 months. He left the annex courtroom clutching his girlfriend’s hand. Tse remains free on $50,000 bond pending an appeal.
But he could have gone to jail for much longer, according to his defense attorney, Philip Masorti.
Tse was arraigned in September 2014, on the same day the Centre County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on his apartment at 925 Bellaire Ave.
According to the affidavit, State College police found 41 drug-related items including 22 pounds of marijuana, 14.1 grams of cocaine, 18.9 grams of ecstasy, $28,870 in cash, packaging equipment and a scale.
According to Masorti, Tse was not mirandized when he was arrested and also gave police access to his cellphone records.
“He got a very fair sentence. I’m appreciative to the court for a very just sentence,” said Masorti.
