At about 11 p.m. Monday, an unidentified man reportedly entered the Minit Mart on North Atherton Street and demanded that the store clerk give him money.

State College police released photos of the suspect, who can be seen reaching into his gray and black hooded jacket. The store clerk “believed the suspect was holding a weapon concealed under his jacket,” according to a press release issued Tuesday.

According to police, the suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money. He fled through the front door of the store, facing Atherton Street and walked westbound on the 400 block of West College Avenue, police said.

Based on surveillance camera footage, police say the man is believed to be a college-aged, white male. He also wore a black T-shirt and jeans at the time of the robbery. Police estimate the man is 5 feet 8 inches tall and thin.

“If the actor is identified from the Minit Mart robbery last evening, he would likely be charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking (and) receiving stolen property,” State College Police Chief Tom King said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the State College Police Department at 234-7150.
