Police investigating reported sexual assault in downtown State College

State College police are investigating a report of a sexual assault that allegedly happened in downtown State College.

Sgt. Todd Scholton said Saturday that a 19-year-old woman told police Friday afternoon she was raped sometime overnight Thursday and/or into Friday morning.

The incident was reported 12:58 p.m. Friday at the police station on South Allen Street.

The victim — a Penn State student — who reported the alleged rape told police she didn’t know a time or specific location where the incident happened, nor did she know her attacker, Scholton said.

“A lot of the details are cloudy,” he said. “She doesn’t know where or about what time, but we’re actively investigating.”
