Penn State student reports rape to university police

A sexual assault was reported to university police Sunday, according to a Penn State release. A female student reported that a man she knows had sexual intercourse with her without consent.

The assault was reported at 7:42 p.m. Sunday and occurred between 2 and 4:30 a.m. at the Eastview Terrace housing complex.

Safety tips in the release included, “don’t feel obligated to do anything you don’t want to ... get verbal consent from your partner, and don't assume you know what the other person wants, listen to your partner (and) if you are getting unclear messages, stop.”

Sexual assault is a second-degree felony in Pennsylvania and carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and fines.
