A Centre County police communications operator was recognized for her work on June 3 during a state police awards ceremony.
Sandra Ammerman, at the state police Rockview barracks, was presented with the 2016 Police Communications Operator of the Year award, a state police news release said.
On Sept. 22, Ammerman was informed of a homicide suspect driving a stolen pickup on Interstate 80 in Centre County. the release said. Throughout the incident of apprehending the suspect, Ammerman “maintained a calm demeanor and full control of the communications while handling radio traffic and telephone calls from multiple stations.”
Rockview Trooper Sgt. Douglas Clark referred to Ammerman as a “fantastic dispatcher” who showed her caliber on several calls throughout 2015.
