It’s graduation weekend for many Centre County seniors. Here are details on the ceremonies
As the school year comes to a close, high schools across Centre County have started preparing for commencement ceremonies.
While last year’s ceremonies had capacity limitations due to COVID-19 safety guidelines, this year’s events have fewer restrictions but still make livestreaming available in most cases.
With hundreds of seniors across the county walking in graduation ceremonies in late May and early June, here’s a look at details for each event.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy
9:30 a.m. May 21 at the Robert and Alice Thomas Student Life Center
The Baccalaureate Mass will start at 9:30 a.m. followed by a short break before the ceremony starts in the school’s gym. Twenty eight seniors will graduate and the event will be livestreamed on the school’s athletic site. Students are limited to eight guests and have been given tickets for the event. Parking is limited so families are encouraged to carpool to the event.
State College Area High School
6-9 p.m. June 3 at Memorial Field
Forms to reserve tickets were sent to families in an email and the ceremony will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend. There are 582 students graduating from State High this year.
Penns Valley Area High School
6:30 p.m. June 3 at the athletic field
No tickets are required for attendance as the event is outdoors. There are 111 students in the Class of 2022 but how many will walk at commencement will be determined after finals have concluded. The event has been livestreamed by C-Net in the past but the district could not confirm if it would be livestreamed this year.
Bald Eagle High School
7 p.m. June 3 at Alumni Stadium
No tickets are required for Bald Eagle’s commencement ceremony and the event will be streamed on the district’s website. One hundred and thirty three seniors are expected to walk the stage at the ceremony.
Philipsburg-Osceola Senior High School
7 p.m. June 3 at the multipurpose field
No tickets are necessary as the event is outside and there is plenty of space for friends and family of the 121 graduating seniors.
Grace Prep High School
6 p.m. June 3 at Camp Kanesatake
Grace Prep’s 19 seniors will be graduating outdoors at Camp Kanesatake in Spruce Creek. The event will be livestreamed on the school’s Facebook page.
Centre County Christian Academy
6 p.m. June 3 at Centre County Christian Academy
Three seniors will be graduating from the school this June. Tickets are not required for family or friends wanting to attend the event.
Bellefonte Area High School
6 p.m. June 9 at Rogers Stadium
As the ceremony is outdoors, no tickets are necessary. If the ceremony moves inside due to inclement weather, students will be given tickets for families to enter. The number of students graduating has not been confirmed yet and will be set closer to the graduation date.
