U.S. News & World Report released its 2023 high school ranking list on Tuesday, with most Centre County schools showing gains in the ranks.

Covering nearly 18,000 public schools around the country, the ranks are based on state assessment scores, graduation rates, college readiness, curriculum and underserved student performance.

“Having access to a strong high school program is paramount for students as they face an ever-changing world,” Liana Loewus, education editor at U.S. News, wrote in a press release. “Making data on our high schools available helps parents ensure their child is in the educational environment that best sets them up to thrive.”

The report also published rankings by state, district and metro area alongside separate lists for magnet, charter and STEM schools.

According to the report, the nation’s best high school is The Early College at Guilford in North Carolina.

The Julia R. Masterman Secondary School in Philadelphia ranked as Pennsylvania’s best for the second year in a row.
