BEA approves new deal for superintendent
The Bald Eagle Area school board Thursday night approved a five-year contract extension for Superintendent Jeff Miles.
According to the contract, the term will run from July 1 through June 30, 2021.
District business manager Craig Livergood said the superintendent’s salary will start the 2016-17 school year at $111,426, with a 2 percent salary increase every year after that.
Miles has been the BEA superintendent since 2013.
At a meeting in December 2012, the school board officially appointed Miles to a three-year contract as superintendent of the district.
Miles, a 1978 Bald Eagle Area graduate, replaced Dan Fisher, who retired in 2013 after 23 years in the position.
Miles previously worked in Huntingdon Area School District — most recently as Huntingdon Area High School principal.
“I’m humbled I’ve been given this opportunity, and I’m not going to take it lightly,” Miles said when his appointment was initially approved in 2012.
