Penn State issues timely warning on sexual assault near campus parking lot
A sexual assault near an on-campus Penn State parking lot was reported to university police late Monday morning, according to a timely warning notification issued Monday evening.
According to the report, a visitor to campus alleged they were forced to engage in sexual activity — “by a known individual” — between 11:30 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. near Parking Lot Purple 43, which is adjacent to Hastings Road on the southeastern part of campus.
No other details are known, including whether a suspect has been detained. Penn State police did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
According to the timely warning, it can be “assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the university community.”
It is the ninth timely warning by Penn State so far this year. Of those, eight involved forcible sex offenses.
University Park provides several resources for sexual assault victims, including medical assistance and emotional support, which can be found on the Title IX page at titleix.psu.edu/resources-penn-state-university-park.
