Penn State issues timely warning on sexual assault Saturday in East Halls

A sexual assault in Penn State’s East Halls — where most freshmen are housed — was reported to have occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday, according to a timely warning notification issued by the university early Sunday morning.

According to the report, the forcible sex offense involved a known male.

No other details are known, and a Penn State police spokesperson did not immediately return a message seeking further comment.

According to the timely warning, it can be “assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the university community.”

It is the 10th timely warning by Penn State so far this calendar year. Of those, nine involved forcible sex offenses.

University Park provides several resources for sexual assault victims, including medical assistance and emotional support, which can be found on the Title IX page at titleix.psu.edu/resources-penn-state-university-park.
