Penn State’s Berkey Creamery unveils three new flavors of coffee, including one named ‘Waffle Shop’
Three new flavors of coffee were recently unveiled at the Penn State Berkey Creamery, further boosting the university hotspot’s total number of unique coffee blends.
The new flavors include “Waffle Shop,” “Blueberry Scone” and “Black Jack.” (And, no, ice cream fans, unfortunately these flavors are strictly for coffee.)
“We looked at the coffees that we had, and we wanted to increase the depth of flavor a bit,” Jim Brown, creamery sales and marketing manager, said in a written statement. “Our coffees have a smooth, strong-bodied flavor, and that’s what I believe makes it so unique to the university.”
Although known mostly for ice cream and dairy products, the Creamery also produces other products, such as juices, lemonade and iced teas. Most of its coffee flavors also boast six different roasting levels.
Brown and the Creamery described each new flavor of coffee in the following ways:
- Black Jack: Classic espresso blend that pairs coffee with semisweet chocolate notes and a twist of citrus
- Blueberry Scone: Has the juicy and tart flavor of blueberries, with a hint of toasted sugar
- Waffle Shop: Features notes of mild peach and citrus with a gentle finish
“Blueberry Scone” and “Black Jack” are available for self-serve and in K-Cups, while “Waffle Shop” is currently available only in K-Cups ($9 for 12 online). The new flavors join the current lineup of “Americana,” “Donut Shop,” “Hazelnut,” “Vanilla Bean,” “Mexican Chiapas,” “Happy Valley” and “Decaf” — all of which now also have an updated look to their packaging.
The Creamery is open 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
