A burglary and sexual assault at a University Park residence hall was reported Monday to Penn State.

A Penn State student said someone entered their residence hall room uninvited and sexually assaulted them between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. Monday, according to a “timely warning” notification to the university community, which is required by the Clery Act when certain conditions are met. The assault occurred in an East Halls housing complex and was reported to University Police later that day.

The warning did not include a description of the suspect. Jacqueline Sheader, public information officer for University Police, wrote in an email that “the identity of the perpetrator is unknown at this time and the incident remains under investigation.”

According to the warning, it can be “assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the university community.”

Another sexual assault was reported on campus just over a week ago. That was the first timely warning issued by the university since November.
