Traffic congestion expected during Penn State’s Ag Progress Days. ‘Delays are inevitable’

Pennsylvania’s largest outdoor agricultural exposition returns this week to Penn State’s Russell E. Larson Agricultural Center in Rock Springs, and drivers should expect traffic congestion and delays in the area.

Ag Progress Days runs Tuesday through Thursday, and the West College Avenue (state Route 26), Pine Grove Road (state Route 45) and West Whitehall Road areas will be “extremely congested especially during rush hour time periods,” the Ferguson Township Police Department cautioned in a press release. Traffic back-ups are expected.

“We have extra personnel on duty in an attempt to address this issue, but delays are inevitable,” the release states. “Please allow more driving time for your commute or, if possible, avoid the area altogether.”

Nixon Road will be closed between West Whitehall Road and Pine Grove Road between 3-7 p.m. each day of the event. Only local residents will be able to access Nixon Road from West Whitehall Road during that time.

More than 400 exhibitors are expected to attend this year’s Ag Progress Days, which has free parking and admission. The hours are: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday.
