The Ferguson Township Police Department is warning people about “significant traffic congestion” expected around Rock Springs this week during Penn State’s Ag Progress Days.

Between Aug. 12-14, traffic congestion along West College Avenue (state Route 26), Pine Grove Road (state Route 45) and West Whitehall Road is expected, especially during peak commuting hours, the police department wrote in a news release. They encourage motorists to allow extra travel time, expect delays and consider alternative routes when possible.

Nixon Road between West Whitehall Road and Pine Grove Road will be closed from 3-7 p.m. daily, as well. Access from West Whitehall Road will only be for local residents.

The department will have extra personnel on duty to help with traffic flow, but some delays will be unavoidable.

“Motorists are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for their commutes, or, if possible, avoid the area entirely,” the department said.
