It’s election season again, time for different sides to lobby to see who gets to run things.

No, this isn’t about the White House. It’s about Penn State.

On Friday, nominations open for the Penn State alumni-elected members of the board of trustees.

Three of the nine alumni-elected member terms are up in 2016. That puts the seats of Ted Brown, Barbara Doran and Bill Oldsey up for grabs.

All three were brought in as part of the rush of alumni response to the university’s actions in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal in 2011, in which the board of trustees dismissed longtime football coach Joe Paterno, as well as then-president Graham Spanier.

In 2014, 32 alumni vied for the three positions. In 2013, it was 39. In 2012, it topped out at a whopping 86 candidates.

The 2015 ballot had only three candidates, incumbents Anthony Lubrano and Ryan McCombie and newcomer Rob Tribeck who took the seat of Adam Taliaferro, who opted not to retain his seat.

Nominations will run through Feb. 25, according to the board of trustees website. To request a ballot, alumni can visit the website at www.psu.edu/trustees.

The election will begin April 10 and close May 5.
