Must read in Harrisburg

Our "Charter schools: Making the grade?" series that started today should be a must read for legislators and Gov. Tom Corbett, as they push forward toward charter schools reforms and vouchers.

This series, running through Friday, offers a comprehensive update on the impact of charters in a county known for them.

You can draw your own conclusions, as can legislators. But they should pay attention to the impact before they line up with Sen. Jeff Piccola, who seems to favor a school per child.

Without tax reform, those kinds of plans can't be balanced on the back of school districts and property tax paying homeowners.
