Today’s photo is from Louise Victor, of Boalsburg.

She writes: “Pictured here in a State College High School Band uniform is George H. Cohen, circa 1935. When he was in sixth grade, H.C. Smith, the State College High School band director at the time, asked George to join the high school band because they needed more trumpet players. Little did George know that his future son-in-law, Richard Victor, would become the third band director in the history of the State College High School band and serve in that capacity for 37 years.

“George was born in a house on Gill Street in 1924, before there was a hospital in the area. He graduated from high school in 1941 and at 92 lives in the Pittsburgh area.”
