Beyonce and Jay-Z selling former church in New Orleans. People have a lot of questions

There’s quite a puzzle surrounding a 13,300-square-foot historic mansion named La Casa de Castille in The Big Easy.

The historic landmark, which used to be a church, has hit the real estate market for $4.45 million, but the head-scratching questions regarding the property have stolen the spotlight from the residence’s owners – superstars Beyonce and Jay Z.

The listing on Zillow.com shows stunning photos of a posh church-turned-ballet-school-turned live-in mansion, with elaborate details gushing about the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom stunner:

Built in 1925 as a place of worship for the Westminster Presbyterian congregation. This is truly a one of a kind home located among the mansions of the Historic Garden District in New Orleans. It started life as a church then was a ballet school. It has hosted weddings (including ours), events, salons, major recording stars, and corporate executives. It is ideal for the creative types that want large spaces and/or like to entertain. As one Grammy winner said, ‘The acoustics and vibes are great. I did my best writing ever, while watching the sunset from the rooftop garden!””

According to Dirt, the images attached to the listing are from 2015 when the property was last sold.

This would make sense since the mansion was apparently damaged in a fire in July, the New York Post reported. The fire, which raged for two hours before it was put out by 22 firefighters, didn’t injury anyone and there was no evacuations.

“If they didn’t get there when they did, it could have been worse,” a spokesperson told the Post.

Another odd thing is the website that the Zillow listing directs people toward, www.1527harmony.com, doesn’t exist or the link is broken.

Oh, and when searching for the image of La Casa de Castille on Google Maps, the image is completely blurred.

Also, Dirt reported that even though the property is listed “for sale by owner,” the owner’s given phone number “is registered to a Mississippi-based immigration attorney.”

The original asking price for the house was $3.5 million but jumped to $4.5 million in the short time it’s been on the market.
