3 kinds of Tastykake chocolate cupcakes recalled. Metal mesh wire might be inside
A not-food-in-your-food recall involves Tastykake cupcakes and “tiny fragments of metal mesh wire.”
That’s in the FDA-posted recall notice by Tastykake parent company Flowers Foods: “The recall was initiated following notification by a vendor of the possible contamination in a supplied ingredient.”
Three kinds of the popular Philadelphia dessert got yanked, all sold in boxes with six pairs of cupcakes.
▪ Chocolate Cupkakes, best by Dec. 14, Dec, 18 and Dec. 21;
▪ Creme Filled Chocolate Cupkakes, best by Dec. 14 and Dec. 18;
▪ Buttercreme Iced Creme Filled Chocolate Cupkakes, best by Dec. 14 and Dec. 18 (packs sold individually, best by Dec. 18).
The recalled products were distributed in: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia.
Return the cupcakes to the store for a full refund or throw them in the garbage.
Consumers with questions can contact Flowers via email or by calling 866-245-8921, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastern time.
