‘Half-naked’ attorney dropped pants to enter metal detector before arrest, PA cops say
An attorney dropped his pants while trying to enter a family court building for an afternoon hearing, leading to his arrest, Pennsylvania officials said.
Deputies with the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Family Division Complex in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Nov. 10, where they were greeted by a “half-naked man,” according to a news release.
The man, a 59-year-old attorney, was trying to get through a the magnetometer (an instrument that can detect metal), but the machine kept going off, officials said.
The lawyer told building guards his suspenders were causing the alarm to sound and that he was unable to take them off, according to the news release. The guards asked him to walk through until the alerts didn’t sound.
The attorney and the guards got into a “heated discussion,” the sheriff’s office said. Then, the Squirrel Hill man unhooked the suspenders and dropped his pants before placing them in a bin to enter the metal detector.
“At this point, (he) was standing in the middle of the Family Division Rotunda wearing only his shirt and underwear,” officials said.
That’s when deputies arrested the attorney on a charge of disorderly conduct. He has since been released.
“The Sheriff’s Office would like to forewarn anyone who attends the Family Court Division that visible underwear is not part of the dress code,” the release says.
