It’s a bit of a tired saying that everything’s bigger in Texas, but a Great Dane named Zeus is living up to the state’s reputation, according to Guinness World Records.

Recently, Zeus was officially named the tallest dog in the world, Guinness announced on May 4, measuring a little over 3 feet, 5 inches in height.

“He’s been a big dog since we got him, even for a puppy. He had huge paws,” Brittany Davis told Guinness.

Her family knows better than to leave food out at their Bedford home, Davis said. Zeus is so tall on his hind legs that nothing is out of reach.

“(Zeus) likes to steal the baby’s pacifier off the counters and any food left on the counters is definitely free rein for him,” she told Guinness, adding that “his water bowl is the sink.”

He eats about 12 cups of dog food per day, plus the occasional fried egg, she said.

Whenever the family goes out with Zeus, people always remark on his size.

“We get a lot of comments like ‘Wow, that’s the tallest dog I’ve ever seen’, so it’s cool to now be able to say ‘Yes, it’s definitely the tallest dog you’ve ever seen,’” Davis said.
