At least five people have been killed in a home explosion in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, according to local authorities.

Two people were taken to regional hospitals with injuries after the deadly blast, which happened about 8:07 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, according to a news release from the Borough of Pottstown.

Pottstown is about 40 miles north of Philadelphia.

The injured people were being treated at a regional trauma center, authorities said. One was stable in critical condition, and the other was undergoing surgery.

Initially, officials reported that two people were missing after the blast, but as of 12:30 p.m. on May 27, everyone had been accounted for.

Firefighters, first responders and police officers were on scene along with representatives of several other agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
