Wolf found shot dead by poacher, Oregon police say. Reward offered to find killer

Someone illegally shot and killed a wolf with a tracking collar near Little Lookout Mountain, Oregon State Police reported.

The body of the wolf, a female known as OR88 from the Lookout Mountain Pack, was found Oct. 2, state police said in an Oct. 18 news release. The wolf had been shot by a firearm.

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife earlier notified officials the wolf might be dead.

The Oregon Wildlife Coalition and conservation partners have offered an $11,500 reward for information leading to the poacher’s arrest or citation, the release said.

Police ask that anyone with information call 1-800-452-7888.

Little Lookout Mountain is 9 miles northeast of Durkee, a community of 90 people about 325 miles southeast of Portland.
