It has a castle. And a cabin. Colorado’s ‘Owl Studio’ is for sale. Check it out

A perfectly pleasant — and unique — property nestled in the stunning mountains in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado, has landed on the real estate market for $525,000.

Its name is Owl Studio, and the hidden gem is hand-built and eco-friendly, the listing on EXP Realty says. It consists of two structures: a castle and a cabin.

“Originally the property was bought with a vision to create a unique retreat, utilizing the 80 acres of forest adjoining the property, for educational wilderness workshops and nature/art therapy purposes,” listing agent Ben Cherrington told McClatchy News.

“The Seller is a professional artist with a background in contemplative psychology and art therapy. She designed, while her father built by hand the entirety of both structures himself (with a handful of random volunteers stopping by to see the project).”

According to the listing, features of the studio include:

  • Meticulous details throughout

  • “Gothic architectural theme”

  • Views

  • Half bath inside castle

  • “Rough-ins for a shower and kitchen”

“Trusty Owl Studio is classified as structural art,” Cherrington noted. “It is also an eco-friendly, highly versatile space for the ‘retreat’ mentality. The retreat may serve just one person, a couple, a family, a gathering oasis, a workshop space, or even a place to train in elevation for the many elite athletes in Colorado.”

Cherrington also said that the studio was built with materials including:

  • Green E board walls

  • American clay

  • Wool insulation

  • Hand-picked river rock

  • Recycled tires for slate shingle roof

  • Beetle kill pine

Red Feather Lakes is about 45 miles northwest of Fort Collins.
