A pregnant woman and her unborn baby were killed in a collision with a teen driver, authorities in Michigan said.

The expectant mother was driving south on a road in St. Clair County as the 17-year-old boy was traveling north, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Shortly after 8 a.m. April 5, the teen’s Ford Ranger pickup truck crossed the center line and crashed into the woman’s Ford Focus, authorities said.

The woman, 28, and her unborn child were both pronounced dead, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. The Port Huron teen was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

St. Clair County is about 60 miles northeast of downtown Detroit.
