A driver performing street stunts in Long Beach fled after causing a crash that killed a woman, California police reported.

The crash was reported at 10:57 p.m. on Friday, June 16, Long Beach police said in a news release.

A silver or tan SUV doing donuts in an intersection clipped a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, causing it to slam into a tree, police said.

The crash flung a woman in the passenger seat from the truck, killing her, the release said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 20-year-old driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police, but the SUV driver sped off, officers said. The woman’s identity is being withheld until her family can be notified.

Police ask that anyone with information call detective Shawn Loughlin at 562-570-7355 or leave an anonymous tip at 1-800-222-8477.

Long Beach is about 25 miles south of Los Angeles.
