Dog stuck in Arizona canal can’t resist ultimate lure — a pumpkin muffin. See the video

A German shepherd was spotted trapped in an Arizona canal with no way out, so officers used a pumpkin muffin to bribe it out of the water, a video shows.

And the homemade baked treat did the trick.

Officers initially responded to a canal June 17 in Glendale, the city police department said in a Facebook post.

Police body camera footage shows officers calling the dog to the side of the canal, but it’s unable to get out because of the sloped walls.

Then one officer asks the others for food.

“Here, try this. It’s my wife’s pumpkin muffins,” one officer says as he pulls a freshly made muffin from a plastic bag and hands it to another officer trying to reach the dog.

The officer waves the muffin at the dog, and sure enough, it swims over to him so he can pull it of the water.

“There goes my muffin,” one officer is heard saying.

The dog was returned to its owner who lived nearby.

Glendale is about 10 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix.
