Man impaled by stake after falling off ladder in backyard, Utah officials say
A 38-year-old man was impaled by a stake after falling from a ladder in his backyard, Utah officials said.
The man, whose identity hasn’t been made public, was working on a home project when he fell 8 feet from a ladder, Captain Travis Nicholson with the South Weber Fire Department told McClatchy News in a phone interview.
The man fell to the ground and was impaled in the back by a concrete form stake, about 18 to 24 inches in length and ¾ to 1-inch in diameter, Nicholson said.
This type of pipe, made of metal, is “used to secure concrete forms,” the fire department said on Facebook.
Fire officials arrived on the scene, and the man was transported to a hospital, officials said.
He was in stable condition as of Oct. 24, fire officials said.
South Weber is about 30 miles north of Salt Lake City.
