A Georgia man died after deputies said he became tangled in a homemade zip line.

The “freak accident” was reported Saturday, Oct. 21, at a home in Gainesville, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

A neighbor found Stephen Reeves, 58, at about 1:15 p.m. and called 911, authorities said in a news release.

Deputies arrived to find Reeves snarled in a rope on the zip line and “hanging several feet” off the ground. They believe he had been dead less than 24 hours.

Additional information was not released.

Gainesville is about 50 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.
