Driver chases dirt bikes, then hits and kills 29-year-old rider, Michigan sheriff says

Two dirt bike riders were chased by a man in a truck before one was struck and killed in Michigan, authorities said.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Coldwater Township crash at about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Responding deputies found a 29-year-old man, of Lake, dead at the scene, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office..

Investigators learned that he was one of two people riding dirt bikes on a neighbor’s property. Authorities said that as they were leaving the area, the 54-year-old neighbor got into his pickup truck and drove after them.

The truck then hit the 29-year-old dirt biker, authorities said.

The truck driver now faces a charge of reckless driving causing death.

Authorities have not publicly named those involved in the incident.

An investigation is ongoing.

Coldwater Township is about 130 miles northwest of Detroit.
