Yells for help lead to man clinging to beam under collapsed pier, CA officials say

A man was rescued after yelling for help while clinging to a beam of a collapsed pier, California fire officials said.

Officials were notified of a man screaming for help from under a pier in San Francisco, according to a post on Twitter, now rebranded as X, by the city’s fire department.

Officials got the man to safety about 10 minutes after arriving, the San Francisco Fire Department told McClatchy News in a statement.

Teams used rescue boats and ground crew to rescue the man, officials said.

Fire officials said the man is OK after being checked by medical personnel.

The crew does not know how or why he got into the water, the fire department said.
