Mega Millions player scores big win in Georgia. Where was the lucky ticket sold?
A Mega Millions ticket sold in Georgia netted a $10,000 prize, lottery officials said.
Someone in Sandy Springs won big after matching four numbers and the gold Mega Ball in the drawing Tuesday, June 4, according to the Georgia Lottery.
The lucky ticket was purchased on the Georgia Lottery mobile app.
The winning numbers drawn Tuesday were 19, 37, 40, 63, 69 and gold Mega Ball 17, results show. The Megaplier option was 3X.
A player in Illinois matched all six numbers, snagging the estimated $560 million grand prize, according to the Mega Millions website.
“The jackpot had been rolling since it was last won at $1.128 billion in New Jersey on March 26,” lottery game officials said. “Illinois was one of the founding members of Mega Millions when the game began as The Big Game in 1996.”
There was a $1 million winner in Maryland who matched five of six numbers, results show.
A ticket sold in California took home a second-tier prize worth $285,828 after also matching five numbers, McClatchy News reported. In the Golden State, prizes are adjusted based on the number of tickets sold and the number of winners.
The next Mega Millions drawing is June 7 with an estimated $20 million jackpot.
Sandy Springs is about a 15-mile drive north from downtown Atlanta.
What to know about Mega Millions
To score the jackpot in the Mega Millions, a player must match all five white balls and the gold Mega Ball.
The odds of scoring a jackpot prize are 1 in 302,575,350.
Tickets cost $2 and can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times vary by state.
Drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
