Man tries kidnapping 17-year-old walking to car with mom, CA cops say. ‘Get in my car’
A man tried to kidnap a 17-year-old girl walking with her mother in a library parking lot, California police said.
The teen was with her mom, walking back to their car about 2 p.m. on Aug. 8 in the Simi Valley Library lot, when the man approached them, according to a Simi Valley Police Department news release.
Marcus Hopkins, 40, is accused of grabbing the teen by her arm while saying, “Get in my car,” police said.
The girl screamed and managed to break loose, police said.
The man fled in his car, but police found Hopkins hours later and arrested him on a charge of attempted kidnapping, authorities said.
Simi Valley is about a 40-mile drive northwest of Los Angeles.
