Shy pup lets ‘fun little personality’ show — and gets a foster home in Pennsylvania
A shy pup at a Pennsylvania animal shelter is just beginning to open up and show off her “fun little personality,” and it landed her a foster home almost right away.
Two-year-old Shakira came from “a not so nice house” where she was kept indoors her entire life, the Central PA Humane Society said in an Aug. 22 post on Facebook.
So she’s “just now experiencing life and what it has to offer,” the shelter said.
A photo shows the tiny brown Chihuahua wearing a Halloween sweater and wagging her little tail.
She’s still wary of new situations, especially large dogs as she had never encountered one before, the shelter said.
But she grew up with siblings and seems to do just fine with dogs her own size, the shelter said.
“She was fine meeting a cat until it hissed at her and then she ran away,” the shelter said. “Children should be old enough to understand that Shakira is small and timid of new situations.”
The dog will also need help with house training, the shelter said.
People gushed over the cute pup in the comments section, with some saying they would love to adopt a little dog like her.
“She is precious,” someone said.
“Sweet little baby,” someone else said.
Several people also said they loved her festive sweater — and her name.
“Is her name Shakira bc she’s shaking that little tail of hers? She is adorable!” someone asked.
“She knows how to work it,” the shelter replied.
