While a Maryland woman was scratching her lottery tickets, she realized one of them came with a big win.

The Charles County woman was stunned by her $5 Cash to Go ticket, Maryland Lottery officials said in a Dec. 17 news release.

“This can’t be real,” the woman told lottery officials she thought to herself.

In disbelief, she told lottery officials she had to get her “glasses to double-check.”

Sure enough, after getting a bit clear view, the woman confirmed she won the game’s top prize of $50,000.

Her excitement, she said, left her “moonwalking.”

“I couldn’t believe it,” the woman said.

The government worker told lottery officials she plans to spend her winnings on bills and on her family for the holidays.

“My daughter was excited because it meant more Christmas gifts for her,” the woman told lottery officials.

With its debut on Dec. 2, this was Cash to Go’s first top prize winner, lottery officials said, adding that six top prizes remain.

Charles County is about a 40-mile drive south from Washington, D.C.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
