Police didn’t have to go far to find and arrest a man in a Montana bank robbery.

The 45-year-old suspect was sitting in the bank lobby, apparently waiting for officers, according to Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester.

“It appears the suspect was waiting for police arrival and he was arrested without further incident,” Lester said in a news release.

The Butte man’s name wasn’t disclosed.

No weapons were involved in the Jan. 7 incident at a Wells Fargo Bank branch in Butte, Lester said.

The suspect went into the bank just before 11 a.m. and demanded cash, according to Lester.

Bank employees told dispatchers that the suspect was given money and was still inside, according to Lester.

No injuries were reported.

Butte is about a 70-mile drive southwest from Helena.
