When cat’s owner of 12 years died, ‘her entire world fell apart.’ Bentley needs a home
A cat who lost everything with a sudden change in her life is in need of a loving — and supportive — home in Indiana.
During her 13 years on earth, Bentley had only known a single person. And that person was everything to her. So when her human died, the domestic shorthaired feline was thrust into a world of chaos.
“She never had to experience change, never had to wonder where she belonged,” the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Fishers said in a Feb. 23 Facebook post. “But when her owner passed away, her entire world fell apart. She lost her person, her home, and the only life she had ever known.”
According to her pet profile, Bentley was brought into the shelter in January 2024, and was utterly terrified.
“Because I was so upset, confused, stressed, and depressed, I moved into a foster home,” Bentley’s profile said. “It took me eight weeks before I would approach my foster parents without hissing, growling, or nipping. Remember, I only knew one human being! Life had turned upside down for me.”
After moving into the safety of a foster home, Bentley started to come around.
“Now, Bentley enjoys lounging nearby, accepting gentle pets, and even curling up next to her foster parents in bed,” the shelter said. “She’s a quiet, independent companion who just needs a stable home where she feels safe. If you know cats, you know that some just need time to adjust—but when they do, their love is worth the wait.”
An ideal home for Bentley is one where she’s the star of the show — so no other pets. She’s also a big fan of treats, so her love can be bought with a few of those.

Fishers is about a 20-drive north of Indianapolis.
