A thin cat named Summit was found outside “scared and hurting” after she was likely hit by a car, according to a Massachusetts animal shelter.

Then a “kind person” found her and “knew she needed help,” so they brought the cat to the Dakin Humane Society in Springfield, the shelter said in a March 4 post on Facebook.

The veterinary team treated her injuries and gave the dehydrated cat pain medication and fluids, the shelter said.

They then fed her a “nutritious meal” — which staff suspected she had struggled to access based on her thin appearance.

“Comforted by needed medical treatment, good food, and the reassurance of Dakin staff and volunteers, Summit was stabilized and moved to a foster home where she could continue to heal and recover,” the shelter said.

Then once she was healthy enough, staff would remove her “badly injured” right eye, the shelter said.

“It didn’t take long for Summit to adjust to life with one eye, especially since the surgery took her ongoing pain away,” the shelter said.

During her three-month stay at the shelter, she showed “how much she loved people and other animals,” officials said.

“Her friendly, lovable personality endeared her to everyone she met,” the shelter said.

Once Summit was cleared for adoption by the medical team, someone took her home almost immediately, the shelter said.

People shared how pretty and sweet they found Summit in comments on the post.

“What a cutie pie!” someone said.

Springfield is about a 90-mile drive southwest from Boston.
