Man calls 911 to say he killed his 78-year-old wife, California cops say
A man called 911 to say he had killed his wife, California sheriff’s officials reported.
The call from a Carmel home came in at 4:22 a.m. Thursday, July 24, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies responding to the home found a woman suffering stab wounds in a bedroom, sheriff’s officials said.
The woman, Barbara Lynn Geisen, 78, of Carmel, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
Her husband was taken to a hospital with self-inflicted life-threatening injuries, deputies said. No information on his medical condition was available.
“This is a tragic situation that nobody ever wants to hear about happening in their community,” Sheriff Tina Nieto said in an earlier release. An investigation continues.
Carmel is about a 120-mile drive south from San Francisco.
