Vacation like a Hobbit — ‘The Lord of the Rings’ original Shire set is on Airbnb
Fans of the “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” are in for a treat next year when an actual set from the films is offered as a short-term vacation spot.
A few lucky guests will be able to stay at “The One-and-Only Hobbiton,” the famous Shire set that was featured in the famous trilogies. And not only will guests be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Waikato, New Zealand, it will only cost them $6 per night.
That is if they’re quick enough to be able to book.
“For the first time ever, guests are invited to stay at the original Hobbiton Movie Set, as featured in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies, and experience all the magic that Middle-earth has to offer,” the listing on Airbnb says.
“In celebration of the 10th anniversary of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, guests will have special access to 44 permanently constructed Hobbit Holes and other beloved locations in The Shire. Overnight accommodation will be provided in The Millhouse, a two-bedroom Hobbit-inspired home with a writing nook fit for Bilbo Baggins, and homey decor curated by the trilogies’ Creative Director Brian Massey.”
According to the listing, guests will get to experience:
Private access to the Hobbit Hole
Dinner at The Green Dragon Inn
Private tour of the movie set
The only things the fans will need is a little bit of luck their side — well, and a plane ticket if they’re out of the country. The listing goes live on at 4 p.m. EST Dec. 13 and only three individual two-night stays will be available.
