Former school board president Amber Concepcion sworn in as Centre County commissioner

Centre County’s newest commissioner was sworn in to office on Tuesday.

Amber Concepcion, a Democrat, was appointed as a county commissioner to fill the seat of Michael Pipe, who recently resigned to take a position with incoming Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration. She was sworn into office Tuesday by Senior Judge Pamela A. Ruest at the Centre County Courthouse.

Concepcion previously served on the State College Area School board of directors for 11 years, serving as president for nine years. She will serve her term as commissioner alongside the newly elected Chair Mark Higgins and Commissioner Steve Dershem.
