Elections

Find out more about the candidates you’ll be choosing in the 2020 election with our voter guide

Four years after Donald Trump won Pennsylvania on his way to becoming president, Keystone State voters will again play an important role in deciding the next resident of the White House.

But the choice between Trump and Joe Biden isn’t the only one on the ballot in Pennsylvania. The entire U.S. House and state House are up for election, as is half the state Senate. Three state row offices also will be decided this fall: attorney general, auditor general and treasurer.

The Centre Daily Times has put together a voter guide with information to help you decide which candidates you want to send to Harrisburg and Washington, whether you’re voting by mail or at the polls Nov. 3.

Voters in the 15th Congressional District — which includes most of Centre County outside of State College and Penns Valley — will choose between incumbent Republican Glenn Thompson and Democrat Robert Williams. Voters in the 12th Congressional District — which includes the rest of Centre County and stretches to the north and east — will decide whether to reelect Republican Fred Keller or choose Democrat Lee Griffin.

The CDT sent questionnaires to the candidates for state House and U.S. House who will appear on ballots in Centre County, as well as several candidates for state row office. Candidates are still welcome to submit answers; their responses will be published soon after they are received.

To use our voter guide, enter your address to display your ballot and information about the candidates. Subscribers can also read what candidates said about their backgrounds and their views on important issues.

The guide does not load in some older browsers, including the original Internet Explorer. If you see a blank screen, try browsing in Chrome, Firefox or Edge.

Eligible voters must register by Oct. 19 and apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot by Oct. 27 at votespa.com, in person at their county election office or by paper forms sent through the mail. Polling places for those who would rather vote in person will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Centre County voters can find information about mail-in ballots, polling places and more at centrecountyvotes.com.
