Election Day has arrived. Here’s what to know and what’s happening in Centre County

The polls are now closed for Pennsylvania’s general election. In addition to local races across Centre County, state judicial races are also on the ballot.

As of Monday, Centre County sent out more than 12,800 mail-in ballots and about 9,200 were pre-canvassed Tuesday at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center, Centre County commissioner Michael Pipe said. The mail-in ballots the county received by 8 p.m. Tuesday will be pre-canvassed and counted Wednesday, Pipe said.

After 10 p.m., local precinct results began to be released and posted at https://centrecountypa.gov/2275/2021-Municipal-Election-Unofficial-Resul.

Where is my polling place?

Those heading to the polls to vote in person can find their voting location by visiting centrecountyvotes.gov/voting/voting-locations. All locations are open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. A voter must be in line by 8 p.m. in order to vote.

The Centre County Board of Elections strongly encourages people to wear masks when they vote in person. All poll workers will be required to wear masks during their time working in the polls. Sanitizer will be available upon entry and exit and sneeze guards will be in place for all poll workers.

Where can I take my mail-in ballot?

Ballots must be received by Tuesday and can be returned at a one of the secure ballot drop boxes around the county by 8 p.m. They will also be accepted for in-person return at the Willowbank Building, 420 Holmes St., Bellefonte, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Voters can also surrender their mail-in ballot and return envelope with bar code at their polling location. They’ll fill out a form that voids the mail-in ballot and will be given a regular ballot at the poll. If a voter is unable to bring their mail-in ballot to their polling location, they will be given a provisional ballot, which will be verified following the election.
