Glenn Thompson keeps his seat in Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District
U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Howard, is headed for his eighth term representing Centre County in Washington.
His Democratic challenger, Michael Molesevich, the former mayor of Lewisburg, had 29.4% of the vote at 11 p.m. Tuesday, with 81% of votes counted.
The Associated Press has also called the race in Thompson’s favor.
As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, the candidates were separated by just 757 votes in Thompson’s home county, with all precincts partially reporting and Thompson leading.
“My promise is to continue to fight for all Pennsylvanians and I will never stop working to address the many challenges facing our communities and this great country. We need to put a serious check against one party control in Washington,” Thompson said in a written statement.
The 15th Congressional District has been newly defined after redistricting, and Thompson will now represent all of Centre County and will represent Snyder and Union counties for the first time. He represented the 5th District before the 2018 redistricting shifted him into the 15th District.
The 15th District spans 18 counties: all of Centre, Armstrong, Cameron, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Forest, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, Snyder, Tioga, Union and Warren counties; and part of Indiana, Lycoming and Venango counties.
