How many Centre County voters cast a ballot in Tuesday’s municipal election? See data
High-profile races for county commissioner, school board and Pennsylvania courts brought roughly 39% of Centre County voters to the polls for Election Day.
That unofficial figure, released by the county Tuesday night, surpassed the roughly 29.8% turnout rate for May’s primary election, which still marked the highest rate for a municipal (odd-year) primary in the past decade. The 2022 midterm election brought out roughly 58% of Centre County’s registered voters.
At least 39,366 of Centre County’s 100,759 registered voters participated in November’s municipal election. Roughly 10,962 people, or 27.8%, voted by mail or through an absentee ballot, according to the county’s summary.
So far, no collected ballots were submitted blank, according to the county’s initial results summary.

Where was turnout the highest?
No precinct in Centre County produced a higher turnout than Halfmoon East Central, where 747 of 1,252 registered voters cast a ballot (59.66%). Voters here generally supported Republican candidates across the board, with close races reported for school board and township supervisor, among others.
The precinct with the largest number of ballots cast was College North with 1,294 (with a total of 2,828 registered voters, producing a turnout rate of 45.76%). Here, voters generally favored Democratic candidates.
When will election results become official?
Centre County officials will begin certifying official election totals later this week. Tabulations must still account for provisional ballots, plus military and overseas ballots, which can be received by as late as Nov. 14 if they were submitted for delivery before midnight Monday.
