Pennsylvania primary 2026: Here’s a look at election results in Centre County
Centre County voters went to the polls Tuesday for the Pennsylvania primary election, where Republicans and Democrats picked their nominees for the 15th Congressional District, state House districts and more.
Voters across Pennsylvania cast votes for governor, with Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro having no primary opponent in his bid for a second term, and Treasurer Stacy Garrity running unopposed in the Republican primary.
All incumbents running to represent Centre County in the U.S. House and state House were unopposed in their primaries, though all will have opponents for the Nov. 3 general election.
Below is a look at how Centre County Democrats and Republicans voted in local races. All results are unofficial as of Tuesday night, with all the county’s precincts reporting.
Pennsylvania US Representative District 15
Democrat Ray Bilger received 11,412 votes in Centre County and will face Republican U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson in November. Thompson received 7,759 votes. There were 57 write-in votes on Democratic ballots and 258 write-in votes on Republican ballots.
State Representative - House District 77
Incumbent Democrat Scott Conklin received 4,655 votes and Republican Michelle Schellberg had 2,501 votes. There were 34 write-in votes on Democratic ballots and 60 write-in votes in Republican ballots.
State Representative - House District 82
Incumbent Democrat Paul Takac received 4,497 votes and will face Republican Kirsten McTernan, who received 2,644 votes, in November. There were 13 write-in votes on Democratic ballots and 89 write-in votes in Republican ballots.
State Representative - House District 171
Democrat John Zangari received 2,220 votes and will challenge Republican incumbent Kerry Benninghoff, who received 2,524 votes, this fall. There were 18 write-in votes on Democratic ballots and 38 write-in votes in Republican ballots.
County Republican Committee Chair
In the only countywide contested local race, current county GOP Chair Michelle Schellberg beat out candidates Stephen Spoonamore and Felicia Hetzman. Schellberg, who is also running for House District 77, received 4,623 votes, Spoonamore received 1,684 votes and Hetzman received 1,618 votes. There were 53 write-in votes.
