Centre County adds 116 cases of COVID-19
Centre County reported 116 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to the state Department of Health. All the cases were confirmed and bring the county’s total to 2,667 (2,601 confirmed, 66 probable). There have been 26,374 negative tests.
One additional patient has been hospitalized due to COVID-19 to bring the county total to six. No patients are on ventilators, according to the state dashboard.
The breakdown of Centre County cases by ZIP code is as follows, according to the DOH:
- 16801 (State College): 1,668 confirmed (78 new cases), 27 probable
- 16802 (University Park): 391 (17 new cases), 1-4 probable
- 16803 (State College): 173 (9 new cases), 9 probable
- 16823 (Bellefonte and Pleasant Gap): 96 (5 new cases), 10 probable
- 16686 (Tyrone): 36, 1-4 probable
- 16866 (Philipsburg): 28, 1-4 probable
- 16870 (Port Matilda): 28, 1-4 probable
- 16827 (Boalsburg): 27, 0 probable
- 16841 (Howard): 26, 1-4 probable

The state does not provide specific numbers when there are fewer than five cases to protect patient privacy, and does not identify exactly where a case occurred in a ZIP code that spans multiple counties.
Pennsylvania added 988 cases Tuesday to raise the statewide total to 157,814. There have been 1.87 million negative tests, and an estimated 81% of patients have recovered. Statewide, there have been 8,123 deaths, an increase of 16 from the previous day. The state continues to report 11 Centre County deaths due to COVID-19.
The age breakdown of patients who have tested positive is:
- Approximately 1% are 0-4
- Nearly 2% are 5-12
- Nearly 5% are 13-18
- Approximately 13% are 19-24
- Nearly 36% are 25-49;
- Approximately 21% are 50-64;
- Nearly 22% are ages 65 or older
Centre County has had 43 cases in residents and 25 cases in employees at 10 nursing and personal care homes, as of Tuesday. Statewide, there have been 22,846 cases in residents and 5,047 cases in employees at 977 facilities in 61 counties.

A Pennsylvania voter advocacy group, several Republican state lawmakers and three Centre County residents filed a lawsuit Friday that seeks to block the county from accepting nearly $864,000 from a private election grant.
The Pennsylvania Voters Alliance and state Rep. Stephanie Borowicz, among others, argued in a 65-page federal lawsuit filed in the U.S. Middle District Court of Pennsylvania that the funding would disproportionately help Democrats in swing states like Pennsylvania.
