Teen shot 10 times while standing with his twin after McDonald’s shift, Philly cops say
A Philadelphia 16-year-old shot at least ten times Tuesday evening died in what police are calling a “targeted” attack.
The teen, identified by police as Ahjaon Jackson, was returning from his job at McDonald’s with his twin sister when the shooting occurred. After working a 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. shift, the twins were heading back to their home in the Oak Lane neighborhood in a Lyft, the family told police, according to NBC Philadelphia.
Police told McClatchy News the teen was ambushed by three gunmen wearing all black clothing and black masks.
The gunmen fired at least 15 shots, and the 16-year-old boy was struck at least 10 times, WPVI reported. His twin sister was able to run to the house during the gunfire, and escaped unharmed.
Police said they responded to a call about the shooting at 11:50 p.m., and found the teen male unconscious. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.
Police say the teen boy was likely the intended target.
“Due to the fact that this 16-year-old was hit multiple times, over 10 times, in his head, chest, and his back, it appears he was clearly the intended target due to the fact that he was struck so many times by gunfire,” Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told WPVI.
Police have not revealed a potential motive for the shooting, but say a gun has been recovered near the scene.
Employees at the McDonald’s where the twins worked told officers there were no altercations involving the boy at the restaurant, according to NBC Philadelphia.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.
