History buffs rejoice: A townhouse that was built almost 300 years ago has landed on the real estate market in Philadelphia.

“Would you like a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of history on America’s oldest residential street?” the listing on Zillow.com asks. “Then here is your chance. Welcome to 122 Elfreth’s Aly circa 1728 and considered to be one of the oldest homes in Philadelphia.”

Listed for $499,900, the three-bedroom, one-bathroom home still has that “old American charm” the listing notes, thanks to the original details that include:

  • Original Dutch door

  • Historic windows

  • Plank wood floors

  • Brick fireplace with original mantel

  • Den

  • Exposed beams

  • Garden aria

  • Office

The age of the 1,200-square-foot home and that particular street drew the attention of fans of Zillow Gone Wild, a real estate Facebook page and Twitter account that highlights interesting homes for sale.

“This …. is a beautiful property. I don’t know much about living in a home older than maybe 20ish years so I wonder how people live in ones more than two centuries old!” one Facebook comment said. “Like, some of the wood is clearly warped from age and such — but still it has charm.”

“I love walking down this little alley when we visit Philly! I adore history!” another noted.

“I like this place BUT I can imagine that some strange things happen here and for that reason I could never live there!” someone said.

“I’ve always wondered what the inside of these looked like!” one person said.

They’d be mad at me coming home drunk at 4am running down the alley screaming ‘hear ye hear ye,’” another joked on Twitter.

I bet it’s haunted,” someone said.
